Calculate your monthly childcare costs with our calculator
How does the calculator work?
To calculate your childcare costs at CompaNanny, we ask you to enter the following details in the calculator:
- Combined annual income (gross): enter the total income of you and your partner.
- Child’s age: select the age of the child for whom you want to calculate the childcare costs. Would you like to calculate costs for multiple children at CompaNanny? You can do this by using the green “+ add another child” button.
- Location: the location where you wish to use childcare. Always select your preferred location in the calculator, as costs may vary per location.
- Type of childcare: indicated wether you would like to use our Daycare, Kindergarten or After-School Care.
- Number of days per week: select the days on which your child will attend childcare.
The calculator takes childcare allowance into account based on the information you provide, giving you a realistic overview of your net monthly costs.
You can easily adjust your details in the calculator by using the “recalculate” button.
The result of the calculator
After entering your details, you will see your net monthly childcare costs. These are the actual costs you will pay for childcare for your child(ren) at CompaNanny, after deduction of the childcare allowance from the government.
You can see which data the calculation is based on under “details about this calculation”:
- Combined annual income for assessment: this is the amount you entered under “combined annual income”.
- Maximum hours for childcare allowance for [type childcare]: this is determined by law by the government.
- Maximum hourly rate for allowance: this is also determined by law by the government.
- Allowance percentage: this is the percentage of childcare costs reimbursed by the government, based on your combined annual income, the number of children, and the type of childcare you selected.

Frequently asked questions
What is the maximum childcare allowance per hour in 2026?
-
The maximum allowance per hour is determined annually by the government and differs per type of childcare. The maximum hourly rates in 2026 are:
- €11,23 for Daycare
- €9,98 for After-school care
- €8,49 for Childminding
What happens if my income changes?
-
If your circumstances changes, it may affect your monthly childcare costs. It is important to report any changes to the tax authorities in time, so your allowance is calculated based on the correct information. This helps prevent receiving too little allowance or having to repay part of it later.
You can find out which changes you need to report on the website of the Dutch Tax Authorities. You can use our calculator to see how a change in income affects your childcare costs.
What are the conditions for applying for childcare allowance?
-
To be eligible for childcare allowance, the childcare provider must be a recognised childcare location; which CompaNanny is. You can verify this in the National Childcare Register (in Dutch). The conditions that you and your possible allowance partner must meet can be found on the website of the Dutch government.
Can I enter multiple children in the calculator?
-
Yes, you can, by using the green “+ add another child” button in the tool. This allows you to add multiple children and select the preferred location, days, age, and type of childcare for each child.
