In addition to Daycare and Kindergarten, we also offer After-School Care to children aged 4 to12 years old. With our After-School Care we collect children from school and take care of them until you are ready to take them home. Our After-School Care is a homely place where children feel like they are at home and where your child can play with their peers or peacefully read a book. Our certified Nannies provide your child with the personal and specific attention they need for their own development. That’s also why our After-School Care is divided into age groups, so that we can offer activities based on, and relevant to, a child’s age and development phase. Children aged 4 to 6 years old attend our After-School Care Junior, while children from 7 years up attend our After-School Care Club.
In line with our pedagogic vision, we work with different themes every six weeks. These themes are Society, Nature, Art, Research & Technology, Awareness, and Sports & Movement. Our Nannies organise daily activities based on a theme. In addition to this, experts in the specific fields also visit our After-School Care regularly; they explore the theme in depth with the children and provide inspiring activities. Examples of such include learning to make a video, practicing meditation, or carrying out technical experiments. A theme always starts off broadly and, in conjunction with the children, is then given direction and depth. This enables us to stimulate the children to research, be creative, be adventurous and to think up their own games. Which, in turn, challenges them to develop all kinds of skills that are of value, both now and for the future.
When the children come out of school, we first start with having something to eat. This includes snacks such as cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, and/or crackers (wholegrain or organic spelt) served with humus, organic chicken slices or cheese. The children can also opt for organic semi-skimmed yoghurt, possibly with honey and fruit. And, of course, we take any allergies a child may have into account. On Wednesday afternoons, we have sandwiches, and sometimes a warm lunch is offered. During the school holidays, the children receive fruit in the morning and sandwiches or a warm lunch at noon. In addition, we will occasionally eat something ‘special’ during the school holidays, for example pancakes, a bread pizza, sausages and, every now and then, an ice cream.
We think it is important that children have plenty of exercise and are outside a lot, because fresh air energises. Which is why we often go outside with the kids and why climbing equipment, water tables and materials for sports and playing activities are standard in our spacious and green After-School Care gardens.
We regularly take the children out on trips. Sometimes we go with the whole group and sometimes we separate the After-School Care Junior and After-School Care Club groups. We enjoy going to the playground, park, zoo, petting zoo, a museum, the theatre, puppet theatre or library. During the school holidays, we always dedicate more time to our outings, so we might spend a whole morning at the local bakery or an afternoon with a forest ranger. Whatever we do, we always make sure that we leave after 10:00 am and always try to be back around 4:30 pm.
While we use a set daily routine at our Nurseries, this working method differs at the After-School Care. The Nannies watch and listen carefully to the children to see what they need. It is therefore natural for us to be personally and heavily involved with each child. And to let the rhythm of the afternoon/day be determined by a child’s personal needs. Our people are our greatest strength. They always ensure that your child feels safe and at home with us. Our After-School Care Nannies are (Social) Pedagogy-certified or have completed a sports training education. Think: PABO (primary school teacher training), ALO (Physical Education training) or CIOS (sports training). They are thinkers and doers. We consciously choose this combination in professional background as they bolster each other, and it guarantees our desired quality.
Our After-School Care is open after school until 6:30 pm, with the option to make use of our extended childcare until 7:00 pm. During school holidays, the After-School Care is open all day, from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm. We offer a varied programme of activities during the school holidays, with activities taking place both indoors and outdoors. You will also receive a ‘strip ticket’ from us, which is part of your contract and gives you 50 extra hours of childcare per school year. This includes teacher training days and any extra days you would like to bring your child to CompaNanny during normal school weeks and holidays. There is also a Parent Portal, which parents/guardians can use to quickly and easily submit or request any administrative changes. Moreover, we use it to share photos of your child with you and give you an impression of the activities they are enjoying.
