Preparing for the start together
Before your child starts, we’d like to get to know each other a little better. That’s why we arrange an introduction at our after-school care around one month before their first day. We’ll also agree together what the first day, and any settling-in moment, will look like and which day this will take place on.
After this introduction, we’ll send you our digital start form. This allows you to share more about your child and your family. For example, what your child is like, what gives them energy and anything else you would like our Childcare Professionals to know.
Shortly before your child’s first day at after-school care, we’ll give you a call. We’ll go through the digital start form together and would love to hear how your child feels about starting after-school care.
The first day at our after-school care
Every child settles into a new environment at their own pace. That’s why we like to discuss with you what your child needs to get off to a positive start at after-school care.
If your child would benefit from it, we can arrange a one-hour settling-in session before they start. It is also often helpful to keep the first few afternoons a little shorter. This gives your child time to process all the new experiences and gradually feel at home with us.
During the first few weeks at after-school care, it is helpful if you are easy to reach, in case your child would like to be collected earlier.
Looking back on the settling-in period
Six weeks after your child’s first day at after-school care, you and a Childcare Professional from the group will discuss how the settling-in period has gone. How did you and your child experience it? And is there anything else your child needs to feel fully at home with us?
Together, we make sure the start is as positive and familiar as possible.
The settling-in review can take place either by phone or at the branch. Your child's mentor will contact you to arrange this.
